When MIKE comes to London from New York – there’s one place he always heads to, and that would be a recording and mixing studio hidden away in a quiet part of East Dulwich – run by Al Franklinos ( who has made records for artists as diverse as King Krule & Ghostpoet – along with half of London’s musicians in both recording, producing, writing, mixing and mastering capacities).

The studio is full of analog equipment and classic instruments / synths to enable people to realise potentials they didn’t know they had. There’s even a Multi Track Tape machine for the analog purists out there! A lot of Al’s philosophy is to introduce new voices to electronic and traditional artists so they can explore new and exciting voices – without having to worry about the technical aspects of audio capture …. and this is how all those beautiful records were made!
As well as having a live recording space (with church organ!) and a mixing / production room, there’s a lovely writing space out back where artists can either chill out and enjoy a little smoke (doobie-licious!!) – or can enjoy a separate are to concentrate on writing away from other people
We go waaaay beyond to give our artists the voice they’re looking for – to the extent that a year or so back – Archie from King Krule came in for some recording – didn’t want to use any traditional microphones – so we built him one from a vintage set of Headphones! – The Headphone Microphone! When Mike heard it he wanted one building for him – so we did – and he loved it so much he used it at that nights show – people went nuts – and it looks & sounds amazing.
